Garages and repair and service stations have a lien on a motor vehicle and the parts placed on it for labor, materials, supplies and storage, for the amount of the charges, when the amount of the charges is agreed to by the shop and the owner (A.R.S. 33-1022). (source: Arizona State Legislature)
The lien does not impair another lien or conditional sale already on record when the work started, unless the work was done with the record lienholder's knowledge and consent. (source: Arizona State Legislature)
Under the federal Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, as the Attorney General explains it, you cannot be denied new car warranty coverage just because maintenance or repairs were done by someone other than the dealer, unless the work is provided free of charge. (source: Arizona Attorney General's Office)
Arizona's Consumer Fraud Act makes deception, fraud, false promises, misrepresentation, or concealing a material fact in the sale or advertisement of merchandise an unlawful practice (A.R.S. 44-1522). (source: Arizona State Legislature)
