Arizona's lemon law covers a new motor vehicle for the shorter of the express warranty term or two years or 24,000 miles from original delivery. You must report the problem to the manufacturer, its agent or authorized dealer during that period, and they must make the repairs needed, even after the period ends. If the defect substantially impairs use and value and cannot be fixed after a reasonable number of attempts, the manufacturer must replace the vehicle with a new one or take it back and refund the full purchase price, including collateral charges, less a reasonable allowance for your use. A reasonable number of attempts is presumed after four or more repairs of the same problem, or 30 or more cumulative calendar days out of service for repair, within the covered period. The presumption applies only if the manufacturer first got direct written notice from you and a chance to fix it. (source: Arizona State Legislature)

If the manufacturer has an informal dispute program that complies with 16 CFR part 703, you must use it before the refund or replacement rule applies. You must sue within six months after the earlier of the warranty term ending or two years or 24,000 miles. If you win, the court awards reasonable costs and attorney fees. The lemon law does not apply to vehicles bought for resale, vehicles with a declared gross weight over 10,000 pounds, or vehicles sold at public auction. A repurchased lemon offered for resale must carry a written notice saying so. (source: Arizona State Legislature) (source: Arizona State Legislature)

The Attorney General suggests filing with the BBB AUTO LINE program or talking with an attorney if your new car is a lemon. (source: Arizona Attorney General's Office)
